The Application Support group at IGT is seeking a full-time Help Desk technician intern for the summer of 2019. The Application Support group is responsible for technical support for the IGT systems software deployed in 1,000s of customers worldwide. The intern will work closely with Application Support Engineering team to quickly resolve customer issues related to the use and function of the IGT developed software. This role requires a blend of both technical skills and customer service skills; the ideal candidate will be able to speak and work with technical and non-technical customer representatives as well and highly technical IGT engineers.


  • Provides prompt tier 1 help desk response to IGT customers calling in with a systems problems or questions.

  • Serve as the first point of contact for customers seeking technical assistance over the phone or email

  • An excellent Help desk technician must have good technical knowledge and be able to communicate effectively to understand the problem and explain its solution. They must also be customer-oriented and patient to deal with difficult customers

  • Direct unresolved issues to the next level of support personnel

  • Follow-up and update customer status and information

  • Pass on any feedback or suggestions by customers to the appropriate internal team

  • Identify and suggest possible improvements on procedures


  • Technical aptitude, professional presentation skills, and superior customer service skills

  • Experience with Windows products (Excel, Word, PPT, and Outlook)

  • Experience with SQL and Windows Servers a plus

  • Pursuing or approaching completion of an undergraduate degree concentrated in business, statistics, economics, computer science, or another quantitative / mathematical field. If the student is graduating in May 2019, the student must be continuing to a graduate program to be eligible for a summer internship.

  • Currently in good academic standing with a 3.0 minimum cumulative GPA

  • Must be able to work full-time hours during the summer

  • Exposure to database development (MS SQL, MySQL, etc.)

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a wider team
